YOU CAN'T GO BACK AND CHANGE THE BEGINNING, BUT YOU CAN START WHERE YOU ARE AND CHANGE THE ENDING ~ C.S.Lewis

It's not too late! I remind myself of this all the time.

"Can I really do this?" I ask myself. And then I am reminded of all the people who start cycling or running in their 50's, who pick up a sport or new hobby into retirement, who raise kids, advance in their careers, show up on day one to start a training program, come to a class for the first time, change careers. The list goes on and on.

"When you can't go back and change the beginning, you can start where you are and change the ending."(Thanks C.S. Lewis!) Every day is a new opportunity.

We don't have to worry about a NEW YEAR when we have this NEW DAY.

What we do with what we have right now is what truly matters.

Great things happen in short periods of time and sometimes, unexpectedly.

This is the part of the story where you either grab life by the handlebars, or you carry on, and talk about the would-haves and should-haves and could-haves that you waited for "tomorrow" to get to.

I challenge you to discover what you have not yet done that is waiting for you. I challenge you to muster your courage and leave your mark! Make your dent in the universe.

Try these 3 action steps to get started!

  • More than ever, your BEST PRACTICES / DAILY RITUALS will give you the framework for success. Productive habits, non-negotiables and agreements with yourself that catapult your mindset to achieve every day are the hallmark of high performers. How you start your day - with a reading or journal entry, with meditation, with a tall glass of water, with movement and sweat, with stretch, with nourishment are all examples of BEST PRACTICES. What makes it work is the "non-negotiable" aspect. It is what you do, even when you did it yesterday, even when you are tired, even when you are out of town, even when you are not 100%. You get the idea :) You just do it.

  • SERVE. "Those who are the happiest are those who do the most for others" ~ Booker T. Washington. Truth. Those who make this a daily practice know that it is the game-changer. You don't always know when the giving that you do will come back to you, but it will. Sometimes in surprising ways, but always there is more to be gained from serving and giving of yourself to others that will leave an impact beyond any superficial means possible. Make a list of ways that you currently serve and make a list of ways that you would like to extend your opportunity to serve and then GO DO IT! At the end of every day, if you keep a gratitude journal, I guarantee that an entry will always be how thankful you are for what you were able to do for others.

  • INTEGRITY. "How you do anything is how you do everything" - Tom Waits. Your actions will always speak louder than your words. What do you do when no one is looking? How hard do you work when no one will notice? The people you choose to surround yourself with are often a reflection of your integrity and self-worth. Make a list of the top 5 people you surround yourself with every day and make sure that they reflect your values. In turn, take note of how those 5 people closest to you inspire you. Let them know that they inspire you. Let them know with a hand-written note. Yes, a hand-written note and then maybe stock up on some stationary or note cards that speak to you and allow yourself the time to connect by paper and pencil with someone in your life once a month.

It's time to start. Do the best you can, with what you have, where you are now.

Begin by:

1 - Writing down 3 of your current Best Practices:

2 - List 4 ways you currently SERVE:

3 - Rate your INTEGRITY on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being Fantastic! and Make a list of the 5 people you surround yourself with.
