I may not be there yet, but I am getting closer. This year one of my Big 5 goals is to find more peace within, knowing that a steady meditation practice will make all the difference in this aspect of my life. So far, I am in awe of the potential of our brains and our cellular make-up and I like what I am experiencing.
You know those people you sweat next to you, and who we share time with in classes? They are in these stories. We are all in these stories in one way or another. When we read them, we find out that we are more alike than we are different. And yet, the thought, “Be Kind. For everyone is fighting a hard battle” is one that we can all learn from.
As I found myself working on my rough draft for the book I am a part of, I kept coming back to Pilates. It is an essential part of my practice and what keeps not only my mind right, but my body right. I am so blessed to be as active as I am and injury-free, which I directly attribute to BALANCE! Time for Pilates is essential, along with cardiovascular fitness, my cycling time (which is another of my favorite therapies and one of the best moving meditations!) and then my TRX practice reminds my body how to integrate and strengthen, lengthen, and stabilize. My other workout classes give me 3D movement and play that I feel confident in my body to accomplish based on my foundations of Pilates, core fitness, Cycling, cardiovascular fitness, and TRX, system fitness.
I hope this helps for anyone who is currently out of sync in their bodies or experiencing injuries to reconsider their training plans and incorporate some focus and attention to where it all comes from!
We all have them. Days we wonder why we are here. What our purpose is. What would happen if we just quit. Would anyone notice? Would we be happy? How much struggle is enough? Is your struggle a relationship? a job? a health or body image concern? the loss of someone in your life? reconciling yourself with your passion? Is it simply liking yourself? These things are all real. They sit with us and weigh us down. Sometimes they even make us sick. If you are lucky, you notice it and feel it coming on. You sit with it and observe how it makes you act and react. Just like injuries, some struggles

I needed a place to write and although this is much more personal than usual, it felt right. “Leave your mark on the world” and “live as though there is no tomorrow” are more than just words. Inhale them into your being and exhale anything that has been holding you back.
Become the most passionate person you know, it will be contagious. Pretty much sums up my life. To share my passion for simply living a fulfilling and healthy life I sat down one day with a notebook last summer with my daughter at the coffee shop and said to her, let’s come up 108 affirmations. An affirmation being a positive “I am” statement and the number 108 because that is how many intentions are in a mala. A mala celebrates the eternal spiritual truth within each heart. Since ancient times, this has been symbolized by the number 108. There are 108 earthly desires, 108 human feelings, 108 delusions, 108 beads in the traditional meditation mala, and 108 affirmations in the Positive Energy mala that I created with help from designer and owner of Think Positive Apparel, Taylor Lapidus. My notebook and my list were carried around with me for at least 10 months when I reminded myself of them and decided to create a special graphic using them for the 3-year anniversary of my fitness …
